UFC Fight Night
My first fight picks
On major UFC events I’m most likely going to throw out some bets and some reason’s why. I’m pretty big fan of the sport and generally don’t miss one. I usually won’t do the whole card unless it’s amazing. Here are my upcoming picks for UFC Fight Night.
Court McGee (18-5) vs. Ben Saunders (20-7-2)
I’m actually a big fan of both of these fighters. Court Mcgee 5’11” and Ben Saunders 6’3 pretty tall for a 170lber. Both are pretty solid veterans that I feel like have been around forever and both pretty much have the same record. There are two factors in this for me. Saunders really doesn’t really have punching power, he hasn’t scored a KO since 2009 and he really isn’t that good at stopping the take down. Mcgee to me is a poor mans Johny Hendricks with not to much punching power and not really good movement either. He is a decision master which is where I see this ending.
I think with his movement Ben Saunders is going to pull out the win on this one. The line is -115 so I might put money on it but this fight will def go to a decision.
Joe Lauzon (26-12) vs. Marcin Held (22-5)
Lauzon will always be one of my all time favorite fighters. Has had some just electric fights and I can’t wait for this one. I don’t have too much to say about this one. I think they are pretty evenly matched except one can punchersize the other one’s face better.
I’m 100% taking Lauzon Look at that mug. Line is -120 for Joe right now I’d take it.
Yair Rodriguez (9-1) vs. B.J. Penn (16-10-2)
In case don’t remember BJ Penn’s last fight It was that bizarre event where Penn was standing on his tippy toes to see who was taller. He must have thought the taller fighter won the fight and not throwing punches because he didn’t do much of that. It’s tough for me to root against him but at this point there is an old man (38) in the ring who is just out of his mind. He hasn’t won a fight in like 6 years.
(The best video I could find of BJ Penn’s last fight)
His opponent is a young 24 year old who has crazy feet and a really unorthodox style. Fun to watch with throw kicks on top of kicks. Yair really isn’t a polished fighter but being young he is def an up and comer with a 9-1 record.
If there was going to be a person the UFC could throw at BJ ( I laugh to myself everytime I type that) Penn where he has a chance to beat and retire. This could be your man. The UFC is so desperately trying to do that for him. With youth and talent not on his side I’m going with Yair. It’s a -420 so not really a fun bet.
oh yeah just leave Roy Nelson right here.
