Tim Kennedy Retirement
If you are an MMA guy how could you not be a little sad for the retirement of Tim Kennedy. A little background on why this guy is such a badass. Tim entered into the Army in 2004 and went through basic training, worked himself into Advanced Individual Training, Airborne School and the Special Forces Qualification Course. In 2007 when he completed Army Ranger school he went into the Operational Detachments Alpha, which just sounds badass and makes me feel like a pussy. While there he became a principal combatives instructor for C Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group. He was also a sniper and a sniper instructor. August 2009 was when he transitioned into the Texas national guard and served in the position of Special Forces Weapons Sergeant. He earned several awards while in combat. One being Army’s Bronze Star Medal with V device, which was awarded for valor under fire.
Great fighter to watch and one I always wanted to see get a shot for the title in the UFC but just could never get over the Hump in the Middleweight division. Most of his success came in strikeforce where he has notable wins over Robbie Lawler and Melvin Manhoef. In the UFC he is most known for what he says was “no greater moment” a win at Fight for the Troops 3 against Rafael Natal. Knocked him out in the first round.
