Houston Astro Lance McCullers throws a 95 mph fastball 10 feet behind Mike Napoli of the Texas Rangers, benches clear
We have ourselves our first bench clearer as Lance McCullers throws it a country mile behind Mike Napoli after two Astros already got hit
Napoli took a couple of steps toward McCullers while yelling at him, and McCullers did the same. Astros catcher Brian McCann quickly got in Napoli’s face, and, after a few seconds, players from both benches began spilling onto the field.
There is really nothing like a bench clearing and bullpen clearing brawl in baseball. This wasn’t the most action-packed one I’ve ever seen but it at least was entertaining. Lance McCullers either had the worst case of the yipps on one pitch ever after Andrew Cashner of the Rangers already hit two batters or he really was gunning it at Mike Napoli. He threw that ball 10 feet behind him. He looked like 50 cent out there throwing a baseball it was so bad.
If Lance McCullers did mean to do It I really wish Mike Napoli would have actually gone at him. McCullers is looking for some payback then get some payback. You will live on forever if you can get yourself in a Nolan Ryan, Ventura situation. I think that getting yourself in that position on national tv would be the coolest thing a baseball player can do. If you are a bullpen guy this would be a huge business move. Maybe you get beat up but for the small chance you get him in a headlock and pound off a few punches before anyone gets in there. The last thing you want to happen is something like this a big hold me back yelling fest. You look like a puss after you dusted the guy with a 95 mph fastball.
