Sidney Crosby of the Penguins got his head taken off by Matt Niskanen with a nasty cross check
Matt Niskanen of the Washington Capitals cross-checked Sidney Crosby right in the side of the head ending his night and maybe out for the playoffs
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby left Game 3 of his team’s playoff series, a 3-2 overtime loss to Washington, after he took a first-period cross-check to the head from Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen.
Crosby lay on the ice for several moments before slowly getting up and skating off, mostly on his own power. He went directly down the tunnel for treatment. His leg also bent awkwardly during the collision.
Crosby did not return to the game.
This is def my hockey outrage of the morning. Since the Blackhawks are out of the playoffs my second favorite team in the NHL is the Penguins. I’m not a fair-weather fan it’s because I grew up near the city of Pittsburgh and one of my earliest memories of the great sport is the sweep of the Hawks by the Penguins for the Lord Stanly’s Cup in the early 90’s. This hit on Sidney Crosby my Matt Niskanen was disgusting. If you are a Caps fan maybe you say he was going for the shoulder but then Crosby ducked down a little but that’s all you got. Now the Penguins have one of the best players in hockey, who is known for concussion problems, most likely out for the series maybe longer.
What do you do now with Matt Niskanen? He was kicked out of the game for the hit as he should have been, but should the league office really take it to this guy. He better get at least suspended for any game that he plays in Pittsburgh. Niskanen is by far the most hated player in any sport ever in Pitt right now. He might be killed by some crazy drunk fan the minute he steps foot outside his hotel. I think the hit is gross and their next game someone better take your shot at him. This was the only way the caps were going to stand a chance in the series so here we go.
