The 49ers have came out with what we all thought, they were not going to pick Mitch Trubisky and thought the Bears were taking Solomon Thomas
The 49ers thought that the Chicago Bears’ GM Ryan Pace was trading away the farm to pick up Solomon Thomas not Mitch Trubisky
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch thought the Chicago Bears wanted to trade up for the No. 2 pick of the NFL draft to take defensive end Solomon Thomas, not quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, according to The MMQB.
“Man, who do they want?” Lynch said, according to the report. “Gotta be Solomon, right?”
“Call me crazy,” 49ers chief strategy officer Paraag Marathe said, “but I think it’s Trubisky.”
“Then why did they go get [Mike] Glennon?” Lynch responded.
Well, It’s pretty evident that the Chicago Bears’ GM Ryan Pace truly outbid themselves to get the second pick overall Mitch Trubisky. This basically cements that the 49ers weren’t getting Trubisky and that no one else was moving up to get him either. We all had out thoughts on this and we were all right. Pace is saying all the right things in public about there was another team involved that might take Mitch but I think he just doesn’t want to publicly acknowledge it was a stupid move.
This was just an all time move which most likely won’t turn out good but who knows. The 49ers just were all ok with Ryan Pace taking Solomon Thomas but they traded their pick and still got their number 1 player on the board. If John Lynch does nothing else in his tenure he should be considered a success just in this one draft.
