If you play a probowl and no one watches, does it really happen?
Today is the nfl probowl and I don’t know anyone that will be watching. In theory it’s a great idea, put all the best out there and let them go at it. In today’s game it’s just not a worthwhile opportunity for the players. The players on the winning team get around $50k and the losers get $25k, a lot of money to an average joe like me and you but hardly worth it to these multimillionaires. Especially in football with the risk of injury being so great that they don’t want to jeopardize future contracts and earning potentials. Gone are the days of Sean Taylor laying out someone.
So what’s the solution? Personally, I always liked the individual competitions. Make it like a combine for the pro’s, 40 times, verticals, bench press, Throwing accuracy and power, I want to see these guys earn their Madden ratings. Then put some fun stuff in there like arm wrestling, a dance off, hell throw some drinking games in there for fun too. I’d take anything except a game where it’s obvious the players aren’t trying and are just there for a nice family vacation and some extra pocket change.
