“Deshone Kizer should have stayed in college” Brian Kelly
I will take this opportunity to trash Brian Kelly the head coach of Notre Dame just a little bit. On a Sirius XM radio show the coach went in on Deshone Kizer I think a little too hard. Brian made it really clear that he thinks the young QB should have stayed at Nore Dame.
“Well, he still should be in college. The circumstances are such that you have to make business decisions and he felt like it was in his best interest,” Kelly said. “I’m going to support him and his decision. But the reality of it is he needs more football, he needs more time to grow in so many areas. Not just on the field, but off the field.”
The 6’4″ 233-pound Deshone Kizer is entering the draft as a third-year player at Notre Dame with two years of starting time at the school. Most scouts like Mike Mayock think that Kizer could be the top QB prospect in this draft. But I think that is a more king of the rats situation with these QB, not really high on any of them.
Everyone thinks that this kid has the physical tools but for Brian Kelly to put his character in question too is a little much. It makes him look like he’s been eating sour grapes with this one. Just a sour puss for him realizing the dumpster fire that is Notre Dame and the greener pastures that is the NFL.
I would argue that any developmental woes would be placed squarely on Kelly himself. The time split with a terrible QB in Malik Zaire. If he want’s to blame anyone he should look in the mirror. The quality players that Notre Dame gets every year should be enough to win more than 4 games. Just because someone with the chance to get drafted in the second round of the NFL decides to come out don’t hold it against a kid. Especially one that doesn’t want to put up with your horrible coaching and loud mouth.
