Getting ready for the games North Carolina Vs. Oregon
My favorite team in college hoops, North Carolina, is back vs the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks really haven’t had any type of success in college basketball until recently making the last five tournaments. Before that, they had only made nine tournaments dating all the way back to 1939 when they won their last championship. Not much success but the past doesn’t matter really right now.
The beast that is Carolina’s frontcourt
Oregon is going to have a tough time trying to match up with Carolina’s bigs. Carolina’s frontcourt is going to grab a ton of offensive rebounds most likely being the deciding factor in this game. They top the nation with getting their own rebounds 41% of the time. That could spell doom for the Ducks being 180th in the nation at defensive rebounding. If Oregon can at least get in the way of this would be a big win for them. Carolina is going to get theirs but the damage has to be minimal.
North Carolina’s guard foul trouble
I know perception usually doesn’t mean that it’s true but North Carolina’s guards seem to always be in foul trouble. With only 5 fouls to give we can’t have one of them sitting down five minutes into the game because one of them already has two fouls. The same goes for the end of the game. Oregon is going to shoot threes. They need to hit a bunch to stay in this game. Joel Berry with his bad ankle has to be there at the end or Oregon will have better looks at threes.
Stop Dillon Brooks
I am very excited to see Isaiah Hicks guard Dillon Brooks. Both are big players and will be a great matchup. He was just named 2nd team AP All-American this week. The Junior averages 16 points and 3 rebounds all year. He also was responsible for the winning three that sunk UCLA.
