NHL pick of the day and really the only good game in any sport of the day Pitt at Columbus
This is really the only game I give a crap about today. NBA there are no games because the All Star Break and I refuse to watch the celebrity game. Kevin Hart playing Zach Effron doesn’t apeal to me. I didn’t look it up at all I’m just assuming they are both playing. I would rather watch WNBA. There are no NCAA men’s basketball on tonight either and that’s ok after that HUGE! win by Michigan last night over Wisconsin ( suck it Wisconsin ).
If you need a saving grace the only thing you got is this game which you will most likely have to find on the internet somewhere. TV still just hasn’t gotten on board that people will watch these games. If any big network had some balls they would start playing the best games of the day to get people excited about hockey. Especially for teams like the Caps the Penguins and the Hawks with these teams having a pretty country wide fan base. We need hockey right now. If they did some marketing right they could be almost as big as baseball country wide. Get behind some great players get them on TV and all over the Internet. Hockey guys are the best pro sports players to interview. To me they seem to be the most fun and down to earth kind of guys plus they arguably play the hardest sport. Living near Chicago though it might just be a biased having such a great team here.
Now on to the game
These two teams so far this year have split the series, 2 to 2. Besides Washington, which i’m not counting at this point, are the other top two teams of the division. In their matchups this season Columbus holds a 10-5 goal lead.
“It’s easy to get up to play those guys. … It’s our biggest rival. It’s going to be a big two points, especially how close we are in the standings this year, so it makes it that much more special,” Blue Jackets forward Matt Calvert said Thursday.
The Penguins are 5 points down to Washington right now and are ready to start burning to catch up, despite going 1-2-2 at Columbus with their last game getting beat up 7-1. Columbus on the other hand has been slumping a little bit and haven’t won two games in a row since jan 21-22.
I’m not going to beat around the bush here I grew up a Penguins fan so I’m pulling for this one. I think that coming off Crosby’s 1000th point is going to jack them up enough to come in and get this win from Columbus. The money line is pretty good for the penguins on this one at +120 won’t be at bad play to score a quick buck.
