NHL lets keep this one going BlackHawks at The Jets
Getting ready for the weekend of fun and some downtime from football this is a great way to start it out. From my buddies post today I thought about the man Jeremy Roenick. I think everyone that is a little older and is a fan of hockey can’t help but like this guy. He has toured around NHL being on 5 different clubs and played for 18 years which I don’t know how anyone does anything for that long.
In his rookie season on the Blackhawks in 1989, Jeremy got his teeth knocked out by Glen Featherstone of the blues. After Roenicks two minute minor he went on his next shift and scored a goal. Hockey life baby.
I think as fans that’s why we like these guys. The respect that we have for fun players who are crazy or at least that’s me. I don’t ever hear about people going all in liking finesse players like Crosby. If your not from Pittsburgh you don’t like him but you will find a ton of people giving respect if you ask a hockey guy about a Roenick or a Chris Chelios. Fighters, guys that aren’t afraid to mix it up not nancy boys. These guys got me into hockey growing up. Finesse players aren’t what hooks new fans it’s the highlights of the fights. It’s like car crashes in Nascar. It puts butts in seats.
Now on to this game
The Jets for some reason are owning the Hawks. Their goalie stinks, they actually benched him last game, and the coach’s ass is getting hot, being six points out of the playoffs, but for some reason this is the team that gives the Hawks fits this year. The Jets have won the last 4 of their matchups but they have lost their last two games. With the big win against the Wild in their last game the Hawks are getting ready to heat up I feel. Toews is finally getting back into his old ways and they are setting the tone for the playoff run. On the back of the big OT win I think Toews, having not practiced yesterday, is going to be ready to put it on the Jets. They want some redemption after the all star break and are playing good hockey right now winning their last three. I think this one will be a high scoring affair. The Jets have hit the over in their last 9 of the last 10 games. I’m going for a fun one tonight with the Hawks taking it 4-3.
