NCAAB Georgetown at Villanova
I still have the memory of some all time great Georgetown teams. Obviously starting with this man Patrick Ewing. Of course I was in diapers then but the memory is still there from watching highlights of him being a stud at the position and in all of college. There are many NBA HOFers that we just don’t remember come from this school. Starting with Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo ( I’ve always wanted to get that in a post ) was brought into the college with almost no fan fare. His name actually being mistaken for a 5’10” point guard.
Yes the finger wag is still the best diss in the history of sports only rivaled by the throat slash with maybe the suck it signal coming in third, tough to call.
Other absolute madmen that came out of this historic college was Alonzo Morning. I mean what can I say about this guy besides he was just one of the NBA players that were always in the playoffs grinding it out. An amazing defensive player in the league that you just don’t see anymore. He actually average over 20 and 10 his rookie year but their was a little guy named Shaq that also came into the league in 1992. He was just in the league at the wrong time again getting pounded in the by the Bulls and the Knicks teams of the 90’s. He actually has too many accomplishments to list just a badass.
Another HOFer and my top 5 player of all time the Answer also went to Georgetown. Everyone knows how legendary Allen Iverson was when he played. He crossed over Jordan once enough said. His highlights are always fun to watch.
Now on to the game
We have the 2nd ranked team going up against a team that is 13-11. Villanova is having one of their years that these schools seem to have once in a while. With having down years from Kentucky and really Kansas too these teams like Gonzaga Louisville, and even Oregon are getting their chance now. If they keep it up they will get a better seed in the Tourney so they can get a little deeper in it. During the Actual tourney we will see how their play stacks up but for now Villanova looks way too tough for this middle of the road Georgetown team. The only solace this good could be a good game is that the Hoyas have pushed up the tempo of recent and beaten Creighton and Butler in the last 4 games. With the too tough guard play from Josh Hart ( remember this name come tourney time ) and Jalen Brunson the Wildcats will take this one by my guess more than 10.
