NBA white guy of the day Dan Majerle
Dan Majerle is actually 51 years old now. I actually thought he would be older. He was a really fun guy on the Suns to watch. Prototypical 90’s basketball guy who was a great 3 pt shooter. Dan played for 14 years in the League. Mr. Majerle besides having the most weirdly spelled name besides Favre, came from a pretty cool town in Michigan called Traverse City. He ended up going to Central Michigan University where he averaged 21 pts and 9 rebounds a game and has a terrible looking mascot. Pretty lazy.
Despite going to a nothing college he was actually picked 14th overall in the 88 draft. That is an amazing feat being white and going to a shitty small college. He was drafted ahead of some all time 90’s greats; Rod Strickland, Rick Berry, Steve Kerr and one of my all – time favorites Anthony Mason (R.I.P.).
When he was drafted the Suns fans in the building actually booed him ferociously. That’s never back fired before.
This one actually had kids crying love it seeing Knicks fans go thru hell.
With my second favorite white guy nick name Thunder Dan started making a name for himself with the team coming off the bench and averaging 15 pts a game and jumping thru the roof when he was young. He actually made the all star game in 1992 having only started 15 games all year for the Suns. 1993 was his first year as a starter having traded their started Jeff Hornacek ( great name ) in a deal to get Charles Barkley. That year they made the NBA Finals and had one of the best ever series against the Bulls, which they obviously lost. But he actually had some big games for them scoring 34pts and 28 pts.
He had a short stint with Cleveland for one year before being shipped off to Miami where younger kids remember him playing. On the Heat he just became a bench player 3 pt specialist but was still fun to watch. He ended up retiring in 2001. Another product of being in the Jordan era of the NBA. Great player but would never be able to be seen as great because there was too many in the league at the time.
Alright that’s enough here are some highlights with Terrible music
