A look at the Chicago Cubs new pitcher acquired in the Matt Szczur deal, Justin Hancock
Justin Hancock will join the Chicago Cubs organization being in the trade that will send Matt Szczur to the Padres
Matt Szczur was shipped to the Padres on Monday for a right-handed pitcher Justin Hancock. I’m am not sure where Hancock will end up, but it has a feel like he will go directly to AAA to fill in for Eddie Butler when he makes his trip to the big league club. I will say now that I don’t think that Butler is the answer to our troubles with the Chicago Cubs, but it seems to be going in the direction of him joining the club.
Hancock hasn’t been lighting the world on fire in Double-A San Antonio so far this season. He is posted a 3.59 ERA with a bad WHIP of 1.47 in 2016. This season has been no better with a 6.23 ERA transitioning into the bullpen. Justin Hancock also has walked seven in just over 13 innings of work. Here is what he looks like pitching.
