The Chicago Cubs have hit two home runs for the fourth straight game, and it marks the second time this season they have this accomplishment. They have 17 home runs in their eight-game home stand and 31 in the month of May which is good enough to be second in all of MLB. The Cubs improve to 20-8 when they score four or more runs in a game. With how good their set up and closer has been they are 21-2 when leading entering the eighth inning.
Kyle Hendricks also had an excellent performance marking his third straight quality start and his fifth of the season. His seven innings were the season high so far, and he walked zero batters for the first time this year. In his last six starts, Hendricks has gone 3-1 with a 1.96 ERA. Since the beginning of 2016, Kyle has an 11-3 record with a 1.82 ERA in 19 starts at Wrigley Field.
It seems to all be clicking right now for the Cubs when even if they lose they are scoring four runs. Tonight’s matchup marks the end of the four-game set against the Giants and their homestand. We will see Jeff Samardzija back at Wrigley Field against Eddie Butler trying to redeem himself from a terrible outing. Game starts at 1:20.
