Jesus #2, Tim Tebow, assigned to Low-A Columbia by the Mets
Time Tebow is getting the work he needs now that the Mets are sending him down to Low-A Columbia Fireflies this season. This will get him the time to learn how to face major league hitting better. The Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said that based on what he has done so far in spring training they are comfortable with Tim Tebow going to Columbia. He said that sending him to a “full season club” was the plan.
Jesus #2 is 29 years old and hit .235 in his time during spring training. The Mets plan all along was to get Tim as many games as possible this season. Class-A is the best place to offer that opportunity. Sandy Alderson is actually positive on Tim Tebow. He goes to say,
He’s obviously very athletic and he has adapted very quickly. His approach at the plate is very solid. He doesn’t chase pitches. People might say his swing is a little long but the swing is professional. When he’s made contact, it’s often been hard contact… Defensively, it’s still a work in progress but it’s adequate. He’s made some nice plays, again demonstrating the athleticism that everybody’s seen he has.

I can’t see him really going anywhere this year. In Arizona fall league he batted a terrible .194 with three doubles, 20 strikeouts in 62 bats. Playing every day for the Fireflies this season, Tim will get his work in at either Right or left field. Since I actually hate the Mets I am pulling for Tim Tebow to eventually get up there. I think it’s fun to see these media firestorms in other places than my hometown team.
