Jerry Jones personal bro Tony Romo
Jerry Jones only fault is he cares too much. You can see it in his eyes every time he talks about Tony Romo. In a recent radio interview Jerry had this to say about his golden boy.
“The team we have, especially the offensive side, was built for Tony,” Jones said, via The Dallas Morning News. “This is what it is. It’s a juncture we have to address. I don’t know how ultimately we will resolve this and nobody should be alarmed because you don’t have all the answers. There are some issues here that you just have to see how the cards are playing. But we’ll work to this.”
This is coming off a 14-2 regular season last year. You would think he is talking like there is a chance he might actually sit their future. We have a couple more months of this talk before they actually have to make some moves so we will keep having this stupid headline pop up. What are the cowboys going to do with Romo? If Romo was a few years younger and didn’t just break his damn back we might be able to have a conversation about his $18 million a year salary. But he is 36 years old and hasn’t been healthy for years. He isn’t and never was Tom Brady.
Shopping him to take a year with another team seems so crazy to me with his health and his salary. Tony has 2 seasons where he threw under 10 interceptions where he played full seasons. He has missed basically 3 full seasons in his career ( missing the last 2 ) and Jerry shelled out a 6 year $108 million deal for him. That doesn’t even make sense to me who would take over that salary. Let’s not mistake it though he was a very good QB at one time but that was years ago now.
“The main thing is we will work through it,” Jerry said. “We have a sound enough foundation together that on an individual basis, we will get through this.”
