The Jason Heyward watch is still 0 for million Cubs go down 6-3
The Cubs offense really didn’t show up yesterday against the Reds. The only offense that we got was from two young guys Eloy Jimenez and Ian Happ. Eloy is having a good spring training so far behind the plate. Both these guys will be jockeying for a roster spot by the end of spring training.
Eloy brought in the first run by sacrifice fly that brought in Mark Zagunis. Happ later in the inning got a hit bring in Bijan Rademacher, doing their best to half the Red’s Lead.
The bullpen had other idea’s giving all of those runs back to the Reds in the next inning. Lefty Rob Zastryzny got the loss giving up runs over his 2 2/3 innings he pitched.
He got smoked for 3 hits and struck out two on the afternoon. The Cubs went through the stable of relievers in the afternoon who combined to let up 4 runs.
That was Cincinnati was the first win in spring training.
The Jason Heyward watch is still on, he went 0-3 in this game. He remains hitless in spring training. In the Cactus League so far he has a .083 OPS. I’m hoping that this is just him working on stuff and will be ready for the regular season. If not we are going to have a repeat of last year. These are next level yipps here.
