Eloy Jimenez will miss up to three weeks with bone bruise in shoulder
The real good news in all of this injury is that it was not a worse one. There is no structural damage to his right shoulder from the throw by Eloy Jimenez. The bone bruce will only sit him down for about three weeks. After an errant throw by Eloy is when the problem surfaced. The throw went into the stands behind the dugout. Eloy has played really well for the Cubs this spring but the throw might have made a growing issue worse.
Eloy in spring training
In the 16 games that Eloy played this spring, he hit two home runs and two doubles. He was supporting a .321 batting average going 9-for-25. The entire spring training the only other player lighting up the field more is Ian Happ. Eloy barring any setbacks will come back right after the minor league season begins. If there is still tenderness he will stay in an extended spring training. Jimenez might need that extra time to get ready for whatever level the Cubs send him.
Getting back to normal
Depending on the Cubs’ plan they might send him as high as Double-A. With the great year in spring training, he was having it shouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. If not he will hit the High-A in Myrtle Beach. Last season in Class-A South Bend he had a very strong season. He posted a .329 batting average with 14 home runs and 81 RBIs.
