Cubs already trimming the fat getting to that MLB roster
It’s really early to be sending people back to the Minors but the Cubs are already making the moves. They already know who they are actually going to use in spring training and these 6 players just weren’t going to make the big league club.
The club today sent these players to the minor league camp in Arizona. It brought the team down from 66 guys down to 60. All the players today that got sent down were pitchers and all were non-roster invitees they brought in to have a look.
The only big name or guy that you might have heard of was Manny Parra.
He was a veteran who actually saw some big league time with the Brewers and the Reds. Last time he pitched in the majors was in 2015 where he posted a 3.90 ERA in 40 games.
The rest of the pitchers were a bunch of young righties; Andury Acevedo, Daniel Corcino, Fernando Rodriguez, and Ryan Williams. The only lefty that got sent down was Gerardo Concepcion.
They still have a long long way to get down to the 25 players before the regular season kicks off.
