The Chicago Cubs @ Colorado Rockies Series Preview
After that sweep from the New York Yankees, the Chicago Cubs hit the road to Colorado to play the Rockies. The Cubs hit the series with an underwhelming record of 16-15. The Rockies, on the other hand, have a nice 20-12 record. The most notable player being first baseman Mark Reynolds who is hitting .321 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs.
The Cubs are looking for some better play from their starting pitching as they are trying to get out of the funk of letting up runs in the first inning. The starters have given up 41 total runs in the first inning this season. Plus at least for today’s game Jake Arrieta, today’s starter will need to give the bullpen much needed rest after the 18 inning affair from last night. Here are the projected starters for the series.
All three of the Rockies starting pitchers are rookies which could lead to some success for the Cubs bats. They are in desperate need of some confidence with the major players besides Kris Bryant and Javy Baez going pretty cold as of late.
Javy Baez has hit .379 in the last week with three home runs, seven runs, and five RBIs. But on the other hand, Anthony Rizzo has been cold as ice with just three hits in the same time. Rizzo has an average of .103 with only one RBI.
