The Chicago Bulls are doing exactly what they shouldn’t and that’s most likely making the playoffs.
I really can see their faces now after the season is over. Gar/Pax coming up to the podium saying that the season was successful and that the Chicago Bulls are only a couple of pieces away from making a real run. Maybe they talk about bringing Dwayne Wade back to pair up with Jimmy Butler because who doesn’t want to see that again. They will say that this time with more experience the Bulls will play more as a unit with no more infighting between Rondo and Wade. They will preach that next year will be a new Bulls team even though it will have the same core and everyone should be excited for the product they will bring to the court. I can see that smug look on Gar’s face right now. They talk up the same exact game that the Bears are doing.
Now that brings me to this week where your Chicago Bulls are one win away from making the playoffs. This comes after an absolute shellacking the Bulls put on Orlando 122-75. I think that the age-old question of what happens when a college team plays an NBA team can be put to rest. The will try to bounce off that huge win with a showdown against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
Here are the scenarios: If the Miami Heat lose to the Wizards than the Bulls are in the playoffs no matter what and if the Pacers lose to Atlanta at home, with a Bulls win then that moves them into the 7th seed. If everyone wins that the Bulls move into the 7th seed and the Pacers would be out.
Now that leaves the matchup the Chicago Bulls will get if they make the playoffs. You can take your pick with either the Cavs or the Celtics. My stupid brain now makes this even worse because I think that the Bulls could actually steal a couple from the Celtics. That makes this scenario even worse. If the Bulls make it close with the 1st seed, saying it’s the Celtics, then I can hear it now with Gar/Pax. This offseason for the Bulls is going to be awful anyway you look at it. The Bulls are going to be stuck in Basketball hell with no real out because we are just never beating the Cavs in a seven game series.
After this season then we have a huge problem on our hands that is Dwayne Wade. I can’t wait to see this one play out. Statistics actually show that the Bulls offense is actually better without the 35 yr old guard but his player option is so much money how the hell could any sane person turn it down. The Bulls have an offensive rating of 105 without wade and 103 with wade.
The Bulls have managed to invent a new way of wasting one of the better talents in the whole NBA with Jimmy Butler. Now onto the press conference where Gar/Pax tell us everything is ok.
