The Bills owner Terry Pegula actually waited and fired their GM after the NFL draft, Doug Whaley
The owner of the Bills Terry Pegula waited till the NFL draft had completed to fired the GM Doug Whaley and the whole scouting department
The Buffalo Bills fired general manager Doug Whaley, the team announced Sunday.
The Bills were 30-34 in Whaley’s four seasons as general manager. His only winning season came in 2014, when the Bills finished 9-7 but missed the playoffs. Buffalo’s postseason drought extended to 17 seasons after a 7-9 finish in 2016.
The Bills also dismissed their entire scouting staff a day after the draft, with Terry Pegula announcing the decision during a news conference Sunday.
This can be looked at in two ways. Terry Pegula, the owner of the Bills, either needed the scouts and the department still in place for the draft or Terry hated Doug Whaley so much he basically cucked him and made him watch Sean McDermott make all the picks during the draft. There was no way this guy just found out he was getting fired right after the draft was over. He most likely sat in a corner the whole time and didn’t say a word. When you are paid that much money do you really care though?
The guy wasn’t horrible but he wasn’t any good either. Doug Whaley was responsible for drafting Sammy Watkins but he did trade a lot away to get him. Whaley also drafted EJ Manuel in the first round who can’t even get on the field. He was also responsible for bringing in the Ryan twins (I know they aren’t twins). It still would have made sense to start all over again at the end of last season not now.
Here is a Q and A from the owner:

This screams the type of owner who doesn’t know what he is doing. The Bills as you can see doesn’t have anyone that actually knows football. I have been talking about it lately and If they want to think outside the box, I’m right here for them. I’d love to step in and be a GM of a football team and I know I could do better than at least the Browns giving a five-year run. Todd McShay lays it all out for you how can you suck that bad.
It looked like Terry Pegula was really just cleaning house on all of his pro teams. He also owns the Sabres and fired their whole staff too. Simple easy day for him.
Terry Pegula owns the Bills and Sabres. In the last 10 days, he has fired:
Sabres HC Dan Bylsma
Sabres GM Tim Murray
Bills GM Doug Whaley
