This Bears off season needs and hopeful draft picks
With everything coming up so soon with the Combine right at the start of March and the draft only a month after I thought I’d finally write up my Bears wants and needs. This will be who I think that the Bears should draft and with the layout of possible free agents that the I think the Bears should pursue. This could all change on March 9th when free agency starts.
For starters the Chicago was the 3rd worst team in the pros. If you got stuck watching them every Sunday like me you know it was brutal. There was no fun bad about the Bears it was just a predictable pile of garbage on the field each week. Obviously they have a ton of holes but with some free agent grabs with a good draft we can do this.
I Think that the QB position this year is just a lost cause. You have several options to prop a guy up in the system with free agency or with the draft because we are drafting so high.
Obviously there are several possibly free agents here. Tony Romo will most likely get cut. Tyrod Taylor will most likely not get resigned so they can move in another direction. Colin Kaepernick will be available, I’m sure most Bears fans would hate that signing. Even a possible Kirk Cousins if the Redskins are dumb enough to not franchise tag him. For this year with no real chance of doing anything I think the Bears should get this guy.
As a rookie he started for a terrible Bucs team and put up ok numbers. 59-percent of his throws for 2,608 yards, 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games. I think he has the best upside of anyone out there. He is still super young with a good arm. The only reason he didn’t keep starting for Tampa is Lovie smith is an idiot and game the job to his boy McCown. The market might actually make this guy worth a little bit more than I would like $15 mil but it is way better option then trading away the farm for Jimmy Garoppolo. I’m def. not confident in the Bears coaches to make this guy a better player but at least he is a better option.
I’ll tell you that I’m not too crazy about taking any of these QB’s with the 3rd pick overall. Especially if you don’t have a process in place with good coaches and support system to let this kid grow into an NFL career. Really non of these guys are graded to be a top 10 pick. But I would wait till the 4th to take a chance on this guy.
There are NFL execs saying that this guy could be the best QB in this draft but the other guys are getting all the attention. If this guy makes it to the 4th round it would be a great pick for the Bears. Great skills, Tall, and looks the part. He was MVP of the Senior Bowl this year. His senior season he went for 4,295 yards in his only season as a starter for the Golden Bears, with 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has been behind Jared Goff before this year. If Chicago get this guy into a system and molds him for the future this could be the answer.
One of the weakest parts of the Bears defense. Everyone was hurt or just stunk all year. It was hard to watch with the front 7 actually being effective for most of the season. Kyle Fuller has been a huge disappointment and will most likely be gone.
There are some good corners out there that could be a good mix with Tracy Porter this year. The best one out there for me is Trumaine Johnson out of LA but they might just tag him again. Brandon Carr could be an option if Dallas picks Mo Claiborne but we will see. If I was the bears to get upside with a proven corner for not a ton of money. I would get this guy.
He is a steady corner coming out of Jacksonville and only would command about $7-8 mil a year. Could hold up the position for the Bears for a while being only 27 and hitting his stride. I’m guessing a bunch of teams will be going after him come March 9th so could be a hard one to grab.
With the number 3 pick overall the Bears would be crazy to spend this pick on a corner. I don’t even know if a corner has ever been picked this high. Charles Woodson was 4th pick. The quality of pick makes the high 2nd round pick the bears have perfect to get a gem at this position. I would get this guy.
I don’t know if this guy will fall to the 2nd round but if he does the Bears should jump all over it. I’m sure there is more but the Steelers are the only team I can think of that absolutely need a corner before the Chicago. He is ranked the 3rd corner in the draft. Marlon is big and fast being 6’1″ and 200lbs. Would be an automatic starter for the Chicago and an immediate playmaker.
This too me is the biggest need that the Chicago has this off season. If the bears get a great player here there defense could crack the top ten. A good player will take care of our problems being in the NFC north. Would make our run defense great and give fits to the only QB that matters in the division beating Aaron Rodgers.
Hell Chris Conte is available again this offseason. I might quit the Bears if they get him again. If you want to just grab a guy maybe a Barry Church or a Quintin Demps but these aren’t game changers. There isn’t too much talent in Free agent except for this guy.
This is one of the best guys in the position. If I were in the Bears front office I would be doing anything and everything to try to get this guy. After missing some time which will extend his career a little he should be at his absolute this season. At 28 yr old I want him in a Bears jersey for years to come and would make our defense top 10.
There are actually great players coming into this draft we can get with our 3rd pick. Some say that the 3rd pick is too high for a safety but I think that these guys are worth it. My favorite player in the draft Jabrill Peppers would be an amazing pick but it’s just a little too high. If I need a game changer, other than Peppers, I would grab this guy.
I hate admitting this because I think Ohio state STINKS but this guy would be a great addition for the Bears. He is ranked 4th overall in this draft and would fit the biggest need for the team. 6’2″ 205lb safety with 74 tackles (5.5 for loss), intercepting seven passes (tied for 2nd nationally), and breaking up 4 others. A real play maker that could be the addition that the Bears need to shore up the defense.
