Alshon Jeffery about to get paid
The Chicago Bears as reported from Ian Rapoport aren’t going to franchise tag him again. The tag would have put him at around the $15 million mark.
#Bears are not expected to franchise Alshon Jeffery again at > $17M, sources say. A top WR on the market will generate lots of buzz in Indy

This really means that he is going to get a whole bunch of money. I’m not sure what player he is going to compare too being hurt the last couple years. For example Mike Wallace got a five year $60 million from the Dolphins.
Even with his injuries he is still going to command Dez Bryant maybe Julio Jones money because he has been our best receiver maybe ever. He has made crazy plays for the Bears and has been the most consistent guy I can remember when he plays.
The problem now is that he will hit the open market. We now have a choice. Do we pay a huge salary for a wide out when we don’t have a quarterback and our team sucks? Or do we let him go and put that money into a better position that we need. Maybe safety? Eric Berry wink wink.
We have plenty of cap space so that won’t be a worry but we will see what direction Pace will bring the team with this move.
“I guarantee you we’ll win the Super Bowl next year,” Jeffery said after getting creamed by the Vikings. “We had a lot of injuries. I don’t think a team in the league had as much injuries as us.”
Maybe he was talking about the next team he will play for.
