NFL HOF Just let anyone in
There is a good chance that I’m going to leave a few people out of this just not remembering. But if you have not heard which you are a sports fan of course you have heard the 2017 HOF inductees were announced. Here are the inducted: kicker Morten Andersen; running back Terrell Davis; safety Kenny Easley; owner, president and general manager Jerry Jones; defensive end Jason Taylor; running back LaDainian Tomlinson; and quarterback Kurt Warner.
Now some of these to me just don’t look like the other. There are some real ballers left of this list that to me just doesn’t make sense. Now I have certain criteria that I think that you should have to get in to this of most sacred of places. One has got to be longevity too. It is getting to the point where if you are amazing for like 4 years you are getting inducted.
Case in point Terrell Davis and Kenny Easley; both played under 10 years. Terrell playing 7 and Kenny playing from 81-87. Now both of these players were absolute world killers at one time. Davis averaged almost 5 yrds a carry one season and got over 2000 yards. I feel just for that one season they put him threw him into the hall. He never really had any other great seasons and didn’t even get 10,000 for his career. Kenny was the same way. He was a crazy safety for the Seahawks. He killed people but he was only a blip in the league in the 80’s. I’m guessing most casual fans don’t really remember him.
Not much I’m going to say about Morten Andersen, about time they put more kickers in the damn hall. I’m pretty sure he and his brothers, not really brothers but you know Gary, should both be in there. They were both out of this world at their position and played forever. Jerry Jones just doesn’t make sense to me because there were better people that were left off for this.
Now Jason Taylor, Small LT and Kurt Warner were the top players for 10 or more years case closed they are 1000% hall of famers. I’m going to go through a few players that should have gotten in:
Ty Law played forever won 3 super bowls with the pats 3 time pro bowler and regarded as one of the best db’s the ever played for the Patriots. I loved watching this guy play. He had 53 interceptions in his career and that’s 22nd all time.
Brian Dawkins played for the Eagles and the Broncos. His nickname was weapon X. He was a killer and his highlights were amazing to watch. He was what made that eagles defense so fun to watch. Stats 898 tackles, 34 interceptions, 32 forced fumbles, and 21 sacks. This was Brian Dawkins
Kevin Mawae is top 5 centers of all time. He went to the pro bowl 6 straight times 8 total. He was named on the all decade team; 2000. Bill Parcels said of Him
“Kevin could do things other centers couldn’t do,” the Hall of Fame coach told ESPN.com. “He was an extremely versatile player. He could cut off people to his outside, he could snap the ball and pull. That’s how we had success against Zach Thomas, because of Kevin. He was a very unique player. He was very quick, he was very tough and very smart.
“Here’s what I think: He was by far the best center I ever had. I think he compares favorably to Dermontti Dawson, who is in the Hall of Fame.”
He also is my favorite mic’ed up player that has ever been and something I learned he was actually on the Chicago Bears last season as an assistant o-line coach.
I could go on and on. We miss Isaac Bruce, Alan Faneca and also John Lynch. All of these men had longevity in the league as well as being the best at their positions in the league. So please lets stop this trend I see them starting to act like MLB and put in who actually deserves it.
