Sarri says ‘it’s impossible’ for Willian to leave Chelsea in January

Sarri says ‘it’s impossible’ for Willian to leave Chelsea in January

Willian and Pedro may not be long-term solutions to the wide roles under Sarri, which is why Chelsea need to consider alternatives in the transfer market.

Chelsea rejected the approach on Thursday evening, though, leaving the club's fans frustrated and wondering why they decided against it.

Chelsea are reluctant to sell Willian in January because they fear doing so could damage Maurizio Sarri's chances of a top-four finish, sources have told ESPN FC.

In the end, Barca signed Malcom from Bordeaux to bolster their wide options, but the 21-year-old has hardly featured, playing just five times in LaLiga.

Willian said his future is at Chelsea as he brushed off fresh reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.

€60m is a great value for a player like Willian, who is in the final stages of his prime and the current contract at Chelsea. That Barcelona are also willing to offer cash in addition to the young winger, bringing the valuation of the deal to around £50 million, makes it an appealing prospect. "I don't know what you're talking about".

"I think he can do better, he can do better because of his potential but he is really very important to us, so I think it is impossible to lose him in January".

The Chelsea boss then explained how Willian can further up his displays on the pitch.

"Usually he wants ball on the feet, so I think he can improve in movements without the ball", Sarri said. "And he has the potential to score more".
