Bayern Munich confirm interest in Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi

Bayern Munich are turning up the heat in their pursuit of Callum Hudson-Odoi after sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed their interest in signing him.

After negotiating with Chelsea for much of the past week or two, the Bavarians have finally met the club's asking price for 18-year-old winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

"To stay here is better for him", said Sarri.

"I don't know the situation with the club but for me he is an important player".

Hudson-Odoi has impressed for Chelsea.

"We played with a very good level of application, of determination, with the heart, with the soul. It is important because if you have five or six players from the academy you can have a soul, more than 25 foreign players", he said.

Hudson-Odoi set up both of Chelsea's goals against Forest.

Sarri believes Hudson-Odoi has been unaffected by reports over his future.

"I saw him every day in training and he was really very normal".

However, the 19-year-old is now said to have told the Stamford Bridge hierarchy that he wants to move to Germany, where he is hoping he can emulate the achievements of his teammate from England's U17 World Cup winning side, Jadon Sancho, who has been a revelation for Borussia Dortmund this season. "In my opinion, he needs to go".

"In this club there is a rule - the renewal for players over 30 is usually one year".

Max Bielefeld of Sky Sports has reported that the teenager has handed in a transfer request, and that the club will try "everything" to keep the player during this January transfer window.

He was given a starting place by Blues boss Sarri for the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Wembley, which Tottenham won 1-0 courtesy of Harry Kane's first-half penalty.

Sarri added that Chelsea would need to sign a replacement for Fabregas in January but would not comment on speculation linking them with Cagliari's Nicolo Barella.
