Kevin Hart considering return as Oscars host after Ellen DeGeneres steps in

But DeGeneres, in a taped interview with Hart on The Ellen Show airing Friday, urged him to go back, saying he's apologized for his remarks and grown from the experience.

"I believe in forgiveness".

Hart stepped down days after the tweets began circulating, saying he was sorry for the hurtful words and that he didn't want to be a distraction. "Whatever we can do we would be thrilled, '" she told Mr. Hart. The Hollywood Reporter said DeGeneres faced "backlash", citing several tweets from Twitter users pelting DeGeneres with insults for giving Hart a pass.

"I do not want to stand on that stage and make that night about me and my past, when you have got people who have worked hard to step on that stage for the first time and receive a reward".

"I stepped down because I'm not going to allow this to tarnish an fantastic night for the other actors and actresses that are going to be on stage that night", Hart said. "Trust me when I tell you that you won't want to miss tomorrows episode", he wrote.

Later in the clip, Hart says that he's "evaluating this conversation", neither confirming nor denying that he would be interested in returning as Oscars host. The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star claimed he had already apologized for the tweets and made a decision to walk away from the Oscar gig. However, a number of comedians came to the defense of Hart at the time and now Ellen DeGeneres is as well.

DeGeneres encouraged Hart to ignore the "haters" and "trolls" on the internet, saying that after private conversations with Hart, she sees that, in the past, he did not understand "how unsafe those words are" but that he has grown. I'm glad that I had it here, and I'm glad that it was as authentic and real as I could have hoped that it would be.

Though DeGeneres has been a beloved gay icon for years, her fans in and out of the LGBTQ community were extremely disappointed with her response to Hart's homophobic drama. "You can't let them destroy you and they can't destroy you because you have too much talent. We're a huge group of people who love you and want to see you host the Oscars", DeGeneres continued. "You've already expressed that it's not being educated on the subject, not realising how risky those words are, not realising how many kids are killed for being gay or beaten up every day", says DeGeneres. "You are apologizing again right now".

But, he told DeGeneres, "Leaving here, I promise you I'm evaluating this conversation".

"We have got to let go of people who have apologized", she said.

With no host set for the February date, hopefully the Academy will find a different way to proceed. This is stuff I've addressed; I've talked about this stuff.
