The ACC champion Tigers (13-0, No. 2 CFP) will play Notre Dame (12-0, No. 3 CFP) in the Cotton Bowl on December 29 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Alabama and Clemson are the third and fourth teams to be double-digit favorites in a playoff game, semifinal or final. Alabama is 3-1 in semifinal games and 5-2 in the playoff overall. Oklahoma is hoping its Big 12 title victory can move the Sooners into the fourth and final spot in the College Football Playoff when the rankings are released on Sunday. It's a good football team from the front end to the back end as far as the talent they got. Notre Dame is in the playoff for the first time, making it 10 teams in five seasons to participate in the playoff.

Oklahoma, Georgia, and Ohio State all had numbers to support a spot in the CFP, according to ESPN. "This week, Alabama proved it can carry over that success against a top-tier opponent as it defeated Georgia in the SEC championship".

The Crimson Tide won its 12 regular-season games by an average of more than 35 points per game, with the closest being a 22-point win over Texas A&M in late September.

The Bulldogs also did their part to help Bama. All night, Georgia's defense had performed well against the beastly Alabama attack. Hurts did the rest, capping the game-winning drive with a 16-yard quarterback sneak. They deserve to be where they are.

Making matters more hard for Georgia, the Sooners and Ohio State - both of whom have one loss - won their conference championships by double digits. The Bulldogs lost a dramatic Southeastern Conference championship game to Alabama on Saturday while the Buckeyes won the Big Ten championship.
