First Lady Melania Trump Reveals Christmas 2018 at the White House

In a video released on Monday, Trump walked through different rooms in the White House that were decked out in festive finery, including all-red Christmas trees. Mrs. Trump designed the decor, which features a theme of "American Treasures".

"This home, held in trust for all Americans, displays the many splendours found across our great Nation", the White House said in a statement.

But social media has savaged one element in particular - the dozens of blood-red Christmas trees which line a White House hallway. Decorated by families of fallen service members, the Gold Star Family tree is adorned with gold stars and ribbon. Melania Trump's office explained that "72 handmade paper ornaments representing six regions across America hang from four 14-foot Noble fir trees". That's because the tree needs to reach the ceiling of the Blue Room.

Four custom mantlepieces in the East Room show the skylines of New York City, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Chicago and are meant to highlight "diversity and ingenuity of American architecture and design". The Red Room is focused on children and ways they can excel.

"The State Dining Room is a celebration of our country's national symbols, including the bald eagle, the rose, and the oak tree".

Despite Melania's fine tastes, leftist haters across the Twitterverse immediately blasted her vision as cold, remote, and even darkly twisted, likening the First Lady to some sort of frigid ice queen. This year's decorations prominently feature the slogan for Ms. Trump's ironic anti-bullying campaign on ornaments and in a wreath made out of pencils, among the glittering display. The space is also host to this year's gingerbread house, showcasing the full expanse of the National Mall: "the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, and, of course, the White House", her office said.
