PSG's pain was compounded later on in the night when Kylian Mbappe was forced out of France's friendly against ....with a shoulder injury.

The curse of the global break may have struck for Paris Saint-Germain, with two of their key players suffering injuries in action on Tuesday.

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe both suffered injuries while on worldwide duty and face a race to be fit in time.

Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said: "He felt discomfort".

And Mbappe has a shoulder contusion after falling heavily in France's 1-0 win over Uruguay at the Stade de France.

A statement on the club's official wesbite read: "Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe have undergone medical examinations today that confirmed: for Neymar an elongation of the right adductors".

PSG now sit third in Group C, just one point behind second-placed Liverpool. "He will need a bit more time to evaluate it and take a scan, but in principle it is not a serious injury".

However, Liverpool will travel to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday 28 November, in what will likely be a crucial clash in the Champions League.

Neymar took to social media to confirm what the doctor had said.

The player himself said in a message posted on Instagram: "Thanks to everyone who sent me messages wishing a good recovery, I think it was nothing serious".

Brazil won the match with Neymar's replacement, Richarlison, scoring the only goal a minute before half-time.

We closed the year happy for the work done so far, these last games were important to recover from the biggest hit that was the World Cup, we remained strong, focused and aiming to be increasingly better.
