Several users have tweeted a blank web page that says, "Sorry, something went wrong".

The cause of the outage was not immediately clear. "We quickly investigated and restored access for everyone". We're sorry for the inconvenience, ' a Facebook spokesperson said.

Social media site, Facebook crashed on Monday evening.

Others seem to be somewhere in the middle as Facebook is working, but it's loading much more slowly than it usually does.

The outage map from DownDetector showed reported problems across the world, with most centered in the northeastern U.S.

The popular social platform stopped working at around 1 p.m. ET.

"We're aware that some people are now having trouble accessing Facebook", a spokesperson for the social media website tells Bustle in a statement. The extent of the outage is unclear, but some VW staffers outside the US are having no problems. The outage also impacts south central Kansas. The hashtag #Facebookdown and #facebookoutage are now trending on Twitter.
