Saints make salary cap space for Dez Bryant by restructuring Terron Armstead

Saints make salary cap space for Dez Bryant by restructuring Terron Armstead

However, after it was announced Bryant would be signing with the Saints, an old tweet where he put a fan on blast for being a Saints fan resurfaced.

According to both the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater, Bryant has agreed to a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.

He'll get the opportunity to play against his former team later this month, as the Saints are scheduled to visit the Cowboys in Week 13. He recorded three straight seasons of at least 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns from 2012 to 2014, and he earned Pro Bowl invites in 2013, 2014 and 2016. He caught 531 passes for 7,459 yards and 73 touchdowns during his tenure, including 838 yards and six touchdowns last season. Let's take a look at Bryant's fantasy outlook with his new team and how to approach the situation. New Orleans ranks second in the National Football League in points per game with 34.9, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs who are averaging 36.3. Dallas selected Bryant with a first round pick (24th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State. Drew Brees threw the ball just 23 times in a Week 8 win over the Minnesota Vikings, and then turned around and threw for 346 yards in a shootout win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9.

For an idea on the lack of wide receiver production outside of Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr., who is on injured reserve with a knee injury, hasn't played since Week 4, yet his 22 targets still rank as the second-most among the wideouts behind Thomas. They're also replacing the mediocre Meredith, who isn't much faster than Bryant, with an accomplished receiver. But his play fell off dramatically previous year when he failed to register a single 100-yard game. In three postseason contest which he has started, Bryant has added 15 receptions for 218 yards (14.5 avg.) with two touchdowns.

There's nothing better than the drama of the NFL. While Michael Thomas's emergence as a legitimate top-five receiver in the league has been great for the Saints, the team must be equally disappointed by the lack of production from Cameron Meredith. Moving forward, Bryant will be a WR3/flex as he learns the Saints offense, but his value may increase.
