Trump warns of 'illegal voting' in final midterm push

Trump warns of 'illegal voting' in final midterm push

The network called Hannitys appearance at the event in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, an "unfortunate distraction" and said it had been addressed.

"Fox News does not condone any talent participating in campaign events", the 21st Century Fox-owned news network said in a statement.

And to add insult to injury, Hannity referred to media in the room - including Fox News employees - as "fake news".

Who knew that would look like the good old days with Fox News giving at least lip service in 2010 to the standard that a news channel should not abandon all notion of balance to become the propaganda arm of a political movement?

And after Hannity spoke with Trump backstage, Bill Shine, the former Fox News president turned White House communications director, offered him a high-five, according to the White House pool report.

However, in a TV interview on Monday, the USA leader said he wished he had taken a softer tone in his first two years as president.

In his remarks on stage, Hannity also publicly disparaged his colleagues in the press corps at the back of the rally.

He did not do that however, choosing instead to go on the attack, taking aim at the same people President Trump has declared public enemy number one - the media. Following Hannity's brief remarks, Trump introduced Jeanine Pirro. Right-wing radio star Rush Limbaugh and Trump would later speak from the stage - speeches that would be shown in part on Fox News.

But in my worst fears about what that would look like and how it might affect our democracy, I never thought I would see what I did Monday night on Fox News, starting with the propaganda performance of Sean Hannity. Hannity himself had tweeted: "To be clear, I will not be on stage campaigning with the president".

"If you like the America" that Trump is making, she said, "you've got to make sure you get out there tomorrow if you haven't voted yet".

Fox said it had not approved the arrangement, and ordered Hannity back to his NY studio for the evening.

The cable news network released a statement that admitted having one of their hosts get up on stage with Trump the day before Election Day wasn't exactly journalist-y.

Their appearances caused CNN to question Fox's credibility.

Fox News did not respond to a request for comment. In 2016, for instance, he cited unscientific polls on-air after a Fox News executive told network producers that they did not meet the company's editorial standards. Country singer Lee Greenwood performed Trump favorite "God Bless the USA" in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and was expected to appear Monday with the president in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Fox News draws a distinction between its opinion and news sides of the house.
