Los Angeles Lakers set franchise low with early 25-point deficit

Los Angeles Lakers set franchise low with early 25-point deficit

Which of the two games Leonard sits out remains to be determined as the team and superstar will discuss at Saturday's practice.

Toronto wasn't necessarily expected to dominate in the second game of a back-to-back, but performances from Kyle Lowry, Serge Ibaka and Pascal Siakam once again lifted a squad missing Kawhi Leonard. "We're going game by game".

LeBron James urged his Los Angeles Lakers team-mates to ignore "outside noise" after they fell to a sixth defeat of the season against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

James said his Lakers could've played better in certain areas against the Raptors, especially on the defensive end of the floor.

"It's going to be very, very hard to make a game out of that when you're trying to expend so much energy trying to get back in it".

"Second, third and fourth, we played Lakers basketball", James said.

The decision deprived Lakers fans of their only chance this season to see Leonard, who could be an unrestricted free agent coveted by their team next summer. This is just filthy, the Greek Freak dunking on countryman Kosta Kufos. The Jazz outscored the Raptors 39-30 in the fourth quarter (which included nine points by rookie Grayson Allen) but the game was all but over by that point. He missed all of the preseason due to a broken hand, then missed the start of the season with a left hamstring injury.

After Sunday's outburst, Ibaka is averaging a career-high 18.1 points per game, while his 56.8 percent shooting percentage and 7.6 rebounds per game are the highest totals he has posted in years.

It's impressive. The Suns and Booker really want him to be an All-Star guard this season, and if he were in the East I'd say "done deal", but in the West - Stephen Curry, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, Donovan Mitchell - it's tough to crack the club.
