EPL: Iwobi helps Arsenal escape defeat against Liverpool

Arsenal will have counted themselves fortunate to go in level at the interval after Liverpool enjoyed the better of the first half, with Virgil van Dijk hitting the post immediately before half time.

Victory for Emery's men would lift them above Chelsea into third.

"If insane things happen then maybe we have to think new but I don't expect that", Klopp said as per Liverpool Echo.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he is unlikely to bring in any new players in the January transfer window as things stand and is happy with his squad. The Spaniard won the Europa League three times in succession with Sevilla, including one against Klopp's Liverpool in 2016, and is a formidable tactical mind. However, the Gunners have scored more goals after the break than any other side (19). "But the atmosphere and the character of the team right now is very good".

"The reaction of the team was ideal", goalkeeper Bernd Leno told Arsenal's official website afterwards.

He may not have the individual accolades and statistics of that calibre, of player, but in terms of attitude, work rate, leadership and professionalism, Milner will go down as one of the most consummate professionals to have laced up their boots in this league.

Emery, while insisting that a point is never enough, admitted Arsenal's performance against Liverpool showed good progress is being made at the Emirates.

After shaky goalkeeping from Leno allowed Milner to put the visitors ahead, substitute Alex Iwobi helped Arsenal fight back as he set up Lacazette's goal with a clever through-ball.

And up front it was Lacazette, who started the season playing second fiddle to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the bench, who repaid Emery's faith for keeping him on the field and sacrificing Aubameyang with his substitutions in the search for an equaliser.

Both teams had four shots on goal.

Further forward, the talented but frustrating Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan continue to blow hot and cold, but the two flair players at least now put a shift in for the team and play with a sense of objective.

Even Emery admitted Arsenal are far from the finished article, even citing Liverpool's gradual improvement in three years under Klopp as an example to follow. Those huge gaps aren't closed over the course of one summer. We have to prepare the pressing better.
