China bus tragedy result of fist fight between driver and female passenger

An irate passenger who missed her bus stop triggered a catastrophe in China, when she attacked the driver - who lost control of the vehicle which plunged into the Yangtze River, killing everyone on board.

A crane salvages the wreckage of a bus after it plunged off a bridge into the Yangtze River in China's southwestern Chongqing early on November 1, 2018.

For days after the accident, the No. 22 bus lay at the bottom of the Yangtze River - in waters more than 70 meters (230 feet) deep.

Buses in China often have surveillance cameras. Thirteen bodies have been found and two were still missing, according to the Xinhua News Agency. This made the woman angry, so she advanced to the front of the bus and began yelling at him.

The driver turned his head to face her several times in the argument. At one point, she took out her phone and started hitting him on the head with it. The driver responds with a blow of his own and then grapples with the woman briefly before suddenly sharply turning the wheel to the left, causing the bus to crash into oncoming traffic, smash through a wall, and fall into the Yangzte as passengers scream in terror.

Surveillance footage showed the bus veered across the lanes, hit a auto, demolished a section of Yangtze River No 2 bridge's barrier and plunged into the river, where the water is about 70 metres [230 feet] deep. Four passengers who got off the bus confirmed that a 48-year-old woman argued with the driver because she had missed her stop.
