Trump told a political rally in Wisconsin on Wednesday his government would conduct "an aggressive investigation".

"Acts or threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the United States of America", he said during an event at the White House. "We want all sides to come together in peace and harmony".

A package addressed to Obama was intercepted in Washington, D.C., where the former president lives.

"The packages were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such", Assistant Special Agent Mason Brayman said in the statement. Each bore a computer-printed address label and six "Forever" postage stamps.

The first crude bomb to be discovered had been delivered on Monday to the suburban NY compound of George Soros, a liberal billionaire and major contributor to Democratic causes.

Florida resident Cesar Sayoc, 56, was arrested Friday after over a dozen pipe bombs were sent to various public figures across the country.

Authorities also located two suspicious packages addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden at post offices in DE, a law enforcement official said.The packages weresimilar to others discovered this week and contained potential explosive devices.

The package contained an envelope of white powder that experts were analyzing, Police Commissioner James O'Neill said.

The New York Police Department's bomb squad believes package appeared to be an explosive device and the situation was under control, CNN reported. He also often singles out cable news network CNN and other news media whose reporting he does not like, terming them "fake news".

CNN and the White House have been engaged in a war of words on this issue, with CNN charging the administration of being insensitive. It said "these terrorising acts are despicable". "Your inflammatory rhetoric, insults, lies, & encouragement of physical violence are disgraceful".

Brennan replied Trump should stop blaming others and should "Look in the mirror".

"As you know the suspect has been captured - great job - and is now in federal custody", Trump said as crowds waved signs behind them.
