Kohli pips Tendulkar to become fastest to 10,000 ODI runs

India set a target of 322 and West Indies paced their chase well only to lose a flurry of wickets in the middle and late overs. India and England had tied at 338 in Bengaluru in the 2011 World Cup which ranks second. Kohli became the highest run scorer for India against the West Indies on Wednesday. Riding high on Shimron Hetmyer's century, the Windies team put up a par total on the scoreboard.

He also said he is working hard on his fitness after being dropped form Indian squad for West Indies tour after failing a yo-yo test.

But India's first-choice pacers will be back in action at a time when the reserve pacers went for 320 plus in both the games on placid tracks.

Mohammad Shami was wayward and was taken for plenty of runs - 81 to be precise - in his quota of 10 overs.

More than his bowling figures, what was disturbing was the fact that the speedster lacked direction, something that has troubled him in the past as well. In the process, he also became the fastest to 1,000 runs in a calendar year, taking just 11 innings to get there.

India could still ring in a change or two, though.

India could draft in chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav, who did not play in the opening game, to replace Khaleel Ahmed, who looked out of sorts against Hetmyer.

Hetmyer's knock was one of the few positives for the beleaguered visitors, apart from the brisk start provided by Kieran Powell. "Yes, there are lot of players from other islands playing for West Indies, but once you are trying to do what you want to and excel in the Caribbean, there is a good chance of being picked in the junior and senior teams".

There was speculation about Prithvi Shaw's selection in the ODI squad but the young batting sensation has sustained a hand injury during the Deodhar Trophy and didn't take part in India A's match against India C on Thursday.
