The saying goes "dress for the job you want, not the job you have", and Kate Middleton apparently takes that to heart.

The jewellery was so stunning it nearly outshone her Alexander McQueen dress, an icy blue-grey taffeta ball gown with a dropped waist falling to a full skirt with a slight train swirling around her feet.

Middleton created quite a fashion stir when she arrived wearing an Alexander McQueen dress, which looked a lot like a Disney princess gown.

It was a favourite piece of the Queen Mother's but hasn't been seen publicly since the monarch inherited it.

Aside from her every-day stack of wedding bands (her famous engagement ring, her Welsh gold wedding band and her diamond eternity band), Kate has one jewellery designer she turns to for (almost) every outfit: Kiki McDonough.

The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara was famously worn by Middleton's late mother-in-law.

She paired the shimmering garment with a tiara that was made iconic by another princess before her: Diana, Princess of Wales, who loved the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara above all the others available to her during her time as a royal.
