Prince Harry and Megan arrive in Sydney for official visit

The couple arrived in Sydney this morning ahead of a 16-day tour which will take in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga and include the Invictus Games.

"The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulate them on Friday at the wedding in person".

It is the couple's first official royal tour since getting married in May, the BBC reported.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are gearing up to head Down Under for their first big Royal Tour as a married couple.

A new royal baby is always happy news but it's particularly poignant for Harry and Meghan, who have both spoken openly in the past about their desire to start a family.

They will then travel on to New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji for further engagements.

It all begins on Tuesday when the couple will meet Govenor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove at Admiralty House.

The royal couple's visit comes six months after Harry's father, Prince Charles, made his 16th official visit to Australia, primarily to open the 21st Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast city in Queensland.

Meghan's every smile, step and wave has been scrutinised by royalty watchers curious to see how the mixed-race American actress will perform in her new role.

Kensington Palace said Queen Elizabeth II's 34-year-old grandson and the 37-year-old United States actress, who had just arrived in Sydney ahead of a 16-day tour of the Pacific, would be having a child in the spring.
