Sources close to the couple told TMZ that the decision to split was a mutual choice, and that they both felt the timing wasn't right.

The couple reportedly still have love for each other, however things are over romantically.

Ariana was rocked by the news that her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller had died on 7 September, sharing a tribute to the late rapper she called him her "dearest friend".

Meanwhile, Davidson bought an engagement ring worth $100,000 for Grande.

While neither Grande nor Davidson has confirmed the reports, sources have told People their intense romance was "too much too soon". The relationship with Davidson blossomed rapidly, and Grande found herself engaged to the Saturday Night Live comedian within weeks. Kanye West filled in for her and she's been continuing to take some time away from the spotlight to mourn and heal.

In a song titled "Pete Davidson" from her most recent album, Grande sang: "Universe must have my back, fell from the sky into my lap/And I know you know that you're my soulmate and all that".

The pair was never shy about sharing affection for one another publicly, especially on social media.

Grande is reportedly going through a hard time of her life, having tweeted that she needs a break from the spotlight.
