Jimmy Butler Weighs in on Controversial Report About His Behavior at Practice

After a proposed Butler trade fell apart over the weekend, the Miami Heat remain interested in restarting talks with Minnesota to acquire Butler, league sources told ESPN earlier on Wednesday.

A combative Jimmy Butler returned to practice with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday and challenged his teammates and coaching staff, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Butler was reportedly vociferous and emotional at times in targeting Tom Thibodeau, Scott Layden, Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins. The disgruntled Timberwolves star showed up Wednesday at the team's facility for the first time since demanding to be traded last month and, per reports, made it his mission to humiliate management - and a pair of high-profile teammates. At one point, Butler found himself guarding Towns in the post and when the big man received the entry pass, Butler yelled, "He can't do [expletive] against me!" and Towns ended up kicking the ball out, league sources said.

Except for this trade, the Timberwolves responded with an amendment to the framework of the deal, according to Wojnarowski, which caused the trade talks to "fracture". If you didn't like the way that I handled myself in practice, one of the players come up to me.

"Whenever opening night happens, we'll go out there and play with who we've got". I play hard. I put my body (on the line) every day in practice, every day in games. "Who is the most god-gifted player on our team? And that's all I was out there doing was competing, playing hard, doing what I'm supposed to do on the basketball floor". Nichols asked Butler if his appearance at practice means his relationship with the Wolves is fixed.

"I love Josh Richardson and I think he's a young stud and I would not part ways if I'm Pat Riley and Micky Arison", Miller said. "You can't win without me".
