Houston's pop backed up a solid start by Justin Verlander, who bested Corey Kluber in a matchup of Cy Young Award-winning aces in the first postseason meeting between these teams. The Red Sox won 18 more games than Atlanta in the regular season this year. In National League action, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Colorado Rockies, 4-0, and the Los Angeles Dodgers cruised past the Atlanta Braves, 3-0, to give both teams commanding 2-0 leads in the best-of-five series. Chris Iannetta snapped his bat in half over his right leg after he struck out with Ian Desmond on third and no one out in the seventh.
