‘The Situation’ of MTV’s ‘Jersey Shore’ faces sentencing for tax evasion

The Situation, whose abs became famous on the hit reality show "Jersey Shore", was sentenced Friday to eight months in prison for tax fraud as his co-stars looked on. Mike Sorrentino pleaded guilty to tax evasion and concealing income in January. He also appeared in the recent spin-off, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, the second season of which is now airing. Of course, his fiancée, Lauren Pesce, was by his side too.

He apologized to the court during brief remarks and said he has overcome substance abuse. At least there'll be gym and laundry in prison - not so sure about the tan, though.

According to his plea agreement, Sorrentino evaded taxes in 2011 to the tune of $123,913. Sorrentino reportedly paid no taxes in 2011, despite making somewhere around $2 million.

The Sitch's brother Marc Sorrentino also faced charges, with prosecutors saying he falsified records to obstruct a grand jury investigation. He got off relatively easy: Sorrentino faced a five-year prison sentence but will serve less than a year.

The pair was indicted in 2014 on charges of conspiring with their accountant to evade taxes by underreporting income. He returned for the reunion series Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which is now airing its second season Thursdays at 8/7c on MTV.

The Sorrentino brothers were also accused of underreporting their earnings and allocating business funds for personal items. His brother, Marc Sorrentino, 39, pleaded guilty to preparing a false tax return.
