Candace Owens calls for jailing of Christine Blasey Ford: 'Lock her up'

"Somebody could come and say 30 years ago, 25 years ago, 10 years ago, five years ago, he did a frightful thing to me".

Hours before Trump's speech, Ford's lawyers sent a letter to FBI Director Chris Wray saying they've received no response from anyone involved in the reopened background investigation Kavanaugh.

Prof Ford's lawyer, Michael Bromwich, described Mr Trump's words as "a vicious, vile and soulless attack" on her.

Speaking from the White House lawn on Tuesday, Trump told reporters that he supported Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual misconduct.

"The harsh fact of the matter is that we have mounting evidence that Judge Kavanaugh is just not credible", Schumer said Monday.

Earlier Tuesday, the president previewed his change in tone as he departed the White House, saying "it's a very scary time for young men in America when you can be guilty of something you may not be guilty of". "This is a very hard time". You can be somebody that was flawless your entire life and somebody can accuse you of something.

An ex-boyfriend of Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford told Senate investigators he witnessed her coach a friend on how to take a polygraph, contradicting her sworn testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee last week.

But Ford has not heard from the FBI as of Tuesday morning as questions mount about the extent of the agency's investigation, her team said told CNN.

The idea that people in the US are wrongfully "guilty until proven innocent" is an idea that wasn't manifesting itself politically on the right until last week, GOP pollster Frank Luntz told The Washington Post. "That's a very, very hard standard". I don't know. Upstairs, downstairs, where was it? I don't remember. How many years ago was it?

Senate Majority Mitch McConnell has said the Senate will hold a confirmation vote for Kavanaugh this week. Ford said she "went out with" Garrett for a few months in high school.

Besides Republicans Flake, Collins and Murkowski, Democrats Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota have yet to declare their positions on Kavanaugh.

"There's no time and no place for remarks like that. I don't know. But I had one beer", Trump said, to laughter from the crowd.

A remark by President Donald Trump, who nominated Kavanaugh, spotlighted the gulf between #MeToo-era voters who've rallied against sexual abuse and conservatives who say the nominee is entitled to a presumption of innocence against uncorroborated allegations.

Flake has vowed to vote "no" to Kavanaugh if the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe discovers that Kavanaugh lied during his testimony.

Swetnick said last week in an affidavit that Kavanaugh was present at a house party in 1982 where she alleges she was the victim of a gang rape, a claim he vehemently denies.

Trump said that the current situation meant that some men are "guilty until proven innocent".

He raised questions about the drinking habits of Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy in an attempt to turn the tables on Democrats who have gone after Kavanaugh's beer drinking.

Earlier Tuesday, Senate Republicans and Democrats sparred over the ongoing FBI investigation, which is expected to be completed by Friday. Ford identified Judge as a witness to the alleged assault.

The FBI was also due to question Leland Keyser and PJ Smyth, two people who Ford said were at the gathering of teenagers where Kavanaugh allegedly assaulted her.

Conway's searingly personal comments came over the weekend when she and anchor Jake Tapper were discussing the political edges of Christine Blasey Ford's sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
