Can an Apple Watch save your life?

Can an Apple Watch save your life?

Ive won't give away how Apple wearables could spiral beyond the watch, though company watchers expect an augmented reality device could be in the works.

The latest version, unveiled Wednesday, is pushing the health envelope even further - in particular by taking electrocardiograms, or EKGs, a feature given clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Apple said.

That device has also just gone on sale with Samsung boasting that it comes with more power and up to a week-long battery life. Part of these 18 hours include one hour for exercise, checking the time 90 times, reading 90 notifications and using apps for 45 minutes.

Thanks to this change, the Apple Watch Series 4 is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes. Pre-orders are available today through many retailers, but you will not find many Apple Watch 4 deals right now.

If you're getting ready to spend a small fortune on a new iPhone XS this week then you're likely already feeling both excited about a new iPhone and disgruntled that it's going to cost at least $999.

Update: Apple is launching the Apple Watch Series 4 in India next week starting for Rs 40,990 for the Global Positioning System only 40mm variant while going all the way upto Rs 80,900 for the cellular 44mm variant with a stainless steel case and Milanese loop band.

The Series 4 has become one of the highlights of the recently concluded Apple "Gather Around" event where the watch was publicly introduced together with the other latest Apple products.

Apple has added a ton of new functions to the watch and given it a bunch of tools to track your health in a number of new ways. The Series 4 will be available on September 21st, but interested customers may begin preordering the smartwatch this Friday.

The Apple Watch Series 3 is seen to last up to one and half days on the charge. Though the latest models will be in stock and in stores on September 21, there's no guarantee your local retailer will have the exact model and style you want.

Apple Watch has always been health orientated, a lot of people use these features but many including myself do not. The new series, apart from having better designed and faster features goes up several notches (pun totally unintended) by including an accelerometer and gyroscope, which are able to detect falls, and contact the emergency numbers. Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heart rate that increases the risk of heart complications, such as stroke and heart failure.

If an irregular heart rhythm is detected, participants in the study are notified through the Apple Watch and on their iPhones and offered a free consultation with a study doctor.

The Series 4 ups the ante, however, with an electrocardiogram (ECG) - the first such over-the-counter device available to USA consumers. It will automatically detect and initiate an emergency call. The Series 3 line will now start at $279. All recordings, their associated classifications and any noted symptoms are stored in the Health app in a PDF that can be shared with physicians, Apple said.
