Ohio Task Force 1 leaves for North Carolina for Hurricane Florence

Gov. Nathan Deal issued a state of emergency around noon Wednesday ahead of the storm that covered all 159 counties within Georgia.

A hurricane-hunter airplane measured 25-metre waves near the eye of Florence, according to a tweet from the National Hurricane Center.

"They have misconceptions about how severely they could be affected by a certain type of storm because they haven't experienced the worst of that type of storm", Baker said.

Forecasters have adjusted Hurricane Florence's projected path, saying that after it makes landfall, it is likely to take a more southerly route than expected. The order eases regulations on trucks hauling gasoline and relief supplies into Georgia.

"When that last ferry pulls out.it's unnerving to see it pull away and know, 'That's the last chance I have of getting off this island, '" she said Wednesday. The four named storms in the Atlantic come as one in the Pacific is hitting Hawaii.
