Texas woman, with baby, leads police on high-speed chase

Authorities in Texas released video on Friday showing a woman leading police on a high-speed chase before crashing into another vehicle and attempting to carjack another truck while holding a baby.

The woman arrested was identified as Catilyn Rodriquez.

The incident happened on June 15, but police helicopter footage has only now been released by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The resulting chase hit speeds near 100 miles per hour on several occasions and included the woman swerving into oncoming traffic lanes.

But the carjacking bid comes to a swift end as police surround the vehicle at gunpoint. The woman crashed and ran from police with the baby in a vehicle seat.

The 29-year-old ended up smashing into the back of a truck before pulling her baby, in a portable auto seat, out of the vehicle and running across a road in front of oncoming cars.

Then Rodriguez invades a white SUV full of passengers, which law enforcement says she was trying to hijack, but it's too late and they catch up with her.

A trooper then arrived and blocked the other vehicle from escaping, drawing his gun on the woman while a second trooper goes in and safely gets the baby from the auto.

The Bexar County event was captured on camera in June and reportedly led to the Rodriguez being charged with endangering a child, possession of a controlled substance and evading arrest.
