West Ham snap up Lucas Perez from Arsenal, add Carlos Sanchez

Reports of West Ham's interest in Arsenal outcast Lucas Perez first arose yesterday and things have progressed significantly in the past 24 hours, with a deal now on the verge of completion as we enter the final days of the window.

Perez scored seven times in 21 appearances for Arsenal, including a hat-trick in the Champions League away to Basel.

It's a shame to see Lucas Perez leave the club without really fulfilling his attention at the Emirates.

The Hammers found a unique way to announce the signing of Perez as they used their big screens at the London Stadium to unveil the player.

"We would like to thank Lucas for his contribution and wish him well for the future".

That will take their total spend this summer to over £100m - and means Manuel Pellegrini will have ten new faces in his squad.

Though the Aston Villa side of 2016 did not cover themselves in glory, Sanchez could now be handed his chance of Premier League redemption in the form of a move to West Ham, with the club still lacking cover in central midfield.

He is Manuel Pellegrini's ninth summer signing and their second from Arsenal after the capture of Jack Wilshere.

West Ham director of football Mario Husillos is confident Perez will prove another valuable addition.

"I'm very happy to be here at such an historic club", he told the club's official website.

But the Hammers, who begin their Premier League campaign against Liverpool at Anfield this Sunday, do not expect anyone else to leave the club.

West Ham also sold one player on deadline day, shipping 18-year-old Portuguese midfielder Domingos Quina to Watford.

"His style is different from the other strikers we have available to us, and that gives the manager more options for our attacking play", Husillos said.
